Pastor John and his wife, Dianne, started Grace River on Easter Sunday of 2005 with a handful of families meeting in a movie theatre. Today, Pastor John leads our church as the Senior Pastor with the same passion to see every generation experience the transforming power of God in every area of their lives.
February often feels like a quiet in-between season. The excitement of a new year has settled, routines have returned, and many of us are still waiting to see the breakthrough we prayed for in January. It’s in this space that God often does His deepest work.
In our recent journey through the book of Joshua, we were reminded of a powerful truth: before the walls fall, God works on the hearts of His people. Before Jericho’s walls came down, Israel paused. They consecrated themselves. They remembered God’s covenant. They worshiped. Victory didn’t begin with marching; it began with surrender.
That truth still matters today. We often want God to remove obstacles quickly, whether they are relational, spiritual, emotional, or circumstantial. But Scripture shows us that God is more concerned with who we are becoming than how fast the walls fall. Preparation always precedes breakthrough.
As a church family, this season is an invitation. An invitation to examine our hearts. To realign our priorities. To renew our commitment to worship, obedience, and trust. Sometimes the greatest miracle God performs isn’t around us, it’s within us.
So, as we move through February, let’s lean in. Let’s slow down enough to listen. Let’s choose obedience even when we don’t yet see results. Because when God’s people are ready, the walls that once seemed impossible will fall in His time and by His power.
Before the walls fall, may our hearts be fully His.
With you on the journey,
Dr. John McCloud
