Remember, He Lives

Pastor John and his wife, Dianne, started Grace River on Easter Sunday of 2005 with a handful of families meeting in a movie theatre. Today, Pastor John leads our church as the Senior Pastor with the same passion to see every generation experience the transforming power of God in every area of their lives.

Last Saturday, Grace River Church celebrated 20 years of ministry. I want to send out a special thank you to those who made this weekend happen, it was incredible. Seeing old and new friends come together brought back powerful memories of what God has done, what God is doing, and what he will continue to do moving forward. On Sunday, Dr. Bobby Hill shared a powerful message from Joshua 4:1-11, reminding us there is a “Reason For The Stones.” God had told Joshua to have the leaders gather stones as they crossed the Jordan River to build a memorial that would be a sign for generations to come. In the future, when your children ask what this means, you’ll remind them of the powerful things God has done and his faithfulness to fulfill his promises.

It's amazing how many things we forget over time. Circumstances press in, and we seem to stay distracted, life gets busy. So being reminded of the important things, well, it’s important. During this Easter season, let’s be sure to remind everyone of the stone that was rolled away. Let’s remind everyone of what the angel told Mary and the others in Matthew 28:5-6, "do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; he is risen.” Because He lives, we do remember what God has done. Because He lives, we can release the past. Because He lives, we have a renewed commitment to follow him. Because He lives, faith for tomorrow is released. Fear is gone. Hope is renewed. Death is defeated. Life is worth living because He lives.
