Fully Devoted to...Renewal, Reflection, and Preparation

Pastor John and his wife, Dianne, started Grace River on Easter Sunday of 2005 with a handful of families meeting in a movie theatre. Today, Pastor John leads our church as the Senior Pastor with the same passion to see every generation experience the transforming power of God in every area of their lives.

Over the last several weeks, we have emphasized what it means to be fully devoted to Jesus, following him in every area of our lives. As March approaches and spring begins, we are reminded that renewal, reflection, and preparation are all elements of full devotion. Here are a few ways to put a fully devoted life into practice:

Embrace Renewal: Consider that renewal is just that: re-newal. What was once new in your life, but perhaps has become stale? Maybe a moment of rediscovery, a season of repentance, or a renewal of old passions is in order. Ask yourself: where is God inviting me into renewal? Whether it’s renewing your faith, relationships, or spiritual disciplines, seek His guidance in fresh ways.

Choose Reflection: March often brings changing seasons—both in nature and in life. A fully devoted life understands that life is full of uncertainty and constant change, but He never changes. If you're facing transitions, take comfort in knowing that Jesus is constant. Lean into His promises and trust His guidance in times of uncertainty.

Begin to Prepare: This year, March falls within the season of Lent, a time of preparation leading up to Easter. Whether or not you formally observe Lent, you can use this month to focus on surrender, prayer, and drawing closer to God. Consider how Jesus lived His final weeks before the cross. His life was marked by love, service, and a deep connection with the Father. Look for ways to serve, love others, and deepen your faith journey as you prepare for Easter.  A fully devoted life anticipates resurrection power—both in Christ’s story and in our lives. Practice gratitude and look for signs of God’s work around you and look for ways to share it with others.
