Expecting the Harvest

Pastor John and his wife, Dianne, started Grace River on Easter Sunday of 2005 with a handful of families meeting in a movie theatre. Today, Pastor John leads our church as the Senior Pastor with the same passion to see every generation experience the transforming power of God in every area of their lives.

Over the last several weeks, we’ve been walking through a beautiful series: “The Stories of Jesus: Faith at Work in Everyday Life.” One of my favorite parables comes from Matthew 13, where Jesus teaches about the Sower and the seed.

The truth of this parable is simple yet profound: the seed has the power of life, but unless the soil is ready, the harvest will not come. Jesus reminds us that when the soil is prepared, the harvest will be abundant. At Grace River, we are believing for a harvest not only in numbers but in transformed lives, renewed families, and deeper faith.

This fall, let’s each ask: “Is my heart good soil?

     - Am I receiving God’s Word with openness?

  • - Am I allowing His Spirit to root truth deeply in me?

     - Am I ready to produce fruit, thirty, sixty, or even a hundredfold?

When we prepare our hearts, we make room for God to move in powerful ways. Together, as a church family, let’s be expectant for what He is planting among us.

This October, let’s lean into prayer, service, and generosity, trusting that God is bringing forth a harvest. Remember Jesus’ words: “He who has ears, let him hear.” May we not only hear His Word but live it out with joy and faith.

We are expecting the harvest together.
