Pastor John and his wife, Dianne, started Grace River on Easter Sunday of 2005 with a handful of families meeting in a movie theatre. Today, Pastor John leads our church as the Senior Pastor with the same passion to see every generation experience the transforming power of God in every area of their lives.
As we enter this Thanksgiving season, our hearts turn once again to gratitude. It’s easy to focus on what we lack, the challenges, the unknowns, or the pressures of life. But Thanksgiving reminds us that gratitude isn’t rooted in our circumstances; it’s anchored in who God is.
The Apostle Paul knew that contentment is found in Christ alone. Whether in plenty or in want, he could say, “I can do all things through him who strengthens me,” Philippians 4:13. Paul goes on to say, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus,” Philippians 4:19. That means no matter what he was facing, loss, uncertainty, or change, God was more than enough. His provision doesn’t run dry. His grace doesn’t expire. His presence doesn’t fade.
This remains true for us today, so over the next several weeks, I encourage us to count our blessings, not our burdens. Let’s remember that gratitude shifts our focus from what’s missing to the abundance of God’s mercy already at work in our lives. I believe that as we live this out, our lives become living examples of the fact that God is more than enough.
